Best part of summer in Houston? Wednesday nights at Memorial Park Crits! Repost from @meowmymiller - This is what supporting women's bike racing looks like. Thanks to Bike Barn for rotating the start times to allow later start times for women's races during the series.
Houston is a sprawling city with gridlocked traffic and it is very hard for most people with 9-5 jobs to make 5pm races. When women are the only group asked to make that sacrifice, you see decline in registration numbers.
And thank you for continuing to give equal payouts for women's races. Another acknowledgment that women's races should and must be treated equally. High fives all around.
10/10 Will race.

Massive congratulations to Haute Wheels Racing teammates Kara Breedlove, Hallie Hollenback, and Tina Ament who completed the Dirty Kanza gravel race on Saturday! Each of them overcame their fair share of obstacles just to get to the start line, not to mention crushing an incredibly challenging course. Tina became the first blind woman to finish the DK200 (in about 19.5 hours). Amazing grit, ladies!! Your perseverance is truly an inspiration! 💖💖💖 Thank you @baseperformance @christopherbeancoffee @sheetzioperformance @traughbernutrition !#womenscycling
Last night was the final race of @bearcreekcrits which means Memorial Park Crits start next Wednesday. A highlight of Bear Creek was sponsoring first-time women and also seeing our teammate Elena race her very first (and second) crit. 💖 Also, we love our fantastic sponsors @baseperformance @christopherbeancoffee @sheetzioperformance @traughbernutrition and our new kits! #hautewheelsracing #womenscycling #critrace #critlife #racelife #womensempowerment
Haute Wheels Racing wishes a joyful Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! You inspire us and make the world go ‘round. 💖 photo from https://bikeportland.org/2012/06/28/with-six-kids-and-no-car-this-mom-does-it-all-by-bike-73731/amp (“Emily [Finch] bikes for a simple and somewhat corny reason. It makes her happy. And she and Mitch love the sweet chaos of children and family. ‘I love my bike,’ she insisted repeatedly during our conversation, ‘I really do. Because it’s changed my life. I can’t really explain it. In the end, my bike just brings me happiness.’”)
Haute Wheels Racing had a blast racing and cheering at Houston Grand Crit, one of our favorite events of the year. 💖💖💖 What a gorgeous day to race in downtown HTX! Thank you, @bikebarntx and @rc6614 Tile Roofs of Texas!!
